SHAMOKIN – A Shamokin man is locked up in the Montour County Prison charged with assaulting a one-year-old baby. Shamokin Police Officer Raymond Siko tells WKOK, 22-year-old Michael Mason, was charged Tuesday with felony aggravated assault and other charges. Mason is the live-in boyfriend of the baby’s mother. Officer Siko says Mason dropped the baby on his back into a playpen and knocked his head against a wall. The child suffered a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and other injuries, and is said to be in critical condition. The assault allegedly occurred at a home on North Grant Street in Shamokin.
